Play is not a break from the learning. It is the learning.

At Birla Open Minds Preschool, we believe that every child is naturally curious, eager to explore, and full of possibilities. Our progressive, research-based curriculum is designed to nurture this curiosity and turn everyday experiences into meaningful learning opportunities. Guided by our philosophy of “Shaping Tomorrow,” we make learning joyful, engaging, and age-appropriate, with play at the heart of a child’s early learning journey.

Designed by the expert R&D team at Birla Open Minds, our curriculum focuses on the complete development of a child. Children build strong foundations in language, literacy, numeracy, physical development, and social-emotional skills, while also getting opportunities to explore STEM, creative expression, and essential life skills.

Focus areas

Language and early literacy

Sounds, stories and the first letters, spoken long before written.

Early numeracy

Number as something counted, sorted and handled, not recited.

Sensorial and motor development

Hands, balance and the fine control that writing later needs.

Creative expression

Art, music and movement treated as subjects, not as filler.

Social and emotional learning

Taking turns, naming a feeling, and settling a disagreement.

STEM and life skills

Early science, and the small independences of dressing and tidying.

How the stage is assessed

No written examinations

Progress at this age is watched, not tested. Teachers record what a child does in an individual portfolio, the day they first held a pencil properly, the week they began playing alongside rather than beside. Parents see the portfolio, not a rank.
